... WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM WEDNESDAY TO 7 AM EST THURSDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM WEDNESDAY TO 7 AM EST THURSDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* LOCATIONS... NORTH CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS AND THE EAST SLOPES OF THE BERKSHIRES.

* HAZARD TYPES... HEAVY SNOW ALONG WITH SOME SLEET AND POSSIBLY SOME FREEZING RAIN.

* ACCUMULATIONS... SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 4 TO 8 INCHES... ALONG WITH UP TO AROUND ONE TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE.

* TIMING... SNOW BEGINS AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT AND MAY MIX WITH SLEET... FREEZING RAIN AND RAIN DURING WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY EVENING.

* IMPACTS... THE WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE WILL LIKELY BE IMPACTED BY SNOW. WINTRY PRECIPITATION MAY ALSO IMPACT THE WEDNESDAY EVENING AND THURSDAY MORNING COMMUTES. IN ADDITION... HEAVY WET SNOW MAY CAUSE SOME TREE DAMAGE AND SCATTERED POWER LOSSES WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

* VISIBILITIES... ONE QUARTER TO ONE HALF MILE AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN AN AVERAGE OF 6 OR MORE INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED IN A 12 HOUR PERIOD... OR FOR 8 OR MORE INCHES IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD. TRAVEL WILL BE SLOW AT BEST ON WELL TREATED SURFACES... AND QUITE DIFFICULT ON ANY UNPLOWED OR UNTREATED SURFACES.
